CAPT had requested to re-investigate the historic Squirrel Cage Jail in Council Bluffs, IA after and initial investigation in March of 2008. The request was granted and a date was set. The day of the investigation CAPT headed to Council Bluffs, IA anxious to re-investigate this historical site.

The history of the jail is long and very interesting. The jail was used from 1885 until it closed in 1969 with the Pottawattamie County Historical Society literally saving the building from destruction and it is America's Largest Rotary Jail in existence. The jail housed some of Iowa and Minnesota's most notorious inmates. The Brown Brothers who lead a 3 day drunk killing spree from Minnesota to Iowa were housed here until their executions at Iowa State Penitentiary in 1965 and 1969. Mr. Byrd was another who was charged and convicted of murdering several women while, rumored to be, naked when killing them, he was also executed. The jail had one jailer die of a heart attack, one prisoner fall to his death from the original 3rd floor catwalk, and one Police Officer die at the hand of another Police Officer and a riot gun. The jail housed men, women, and children during it's history.

CAPT set up equipment and started the investigation at 2130 hours. EVP and photo sessions were conducted on all 4 floors of the jail with stationary cameras placed in “key” spots identified by the Historical Society Administrator during the walk through. The investigation was concluded at 0400 hours and CAPT set out fro evidence review, the findings (and there were MANY) are listed below.

NOTE: CAPT founder Chris tested a theory of his during the investigation, that being the wear of certain clothing in certain places to see if it would increase the amount of collected evidence. Paul and Chris used his retired Police Department shirts while investigating the jail thinking that this might increase the activity because of the area being a jail. The finding were DRAMATIC. The entities became VERY vocal and at times vulgar toward Paul and Chris showing to some extent that the theory has validity. This theory is still in testing by the Carroll Area Paranormal Team and future results will be posted. As far as CAPT knows this team is the only one testing this theory and it is solely CAPT Founder Chris's theory, this theory is not shared to others nor is it being tested by other organizations.
