                           CALLENDAR

CAPT was contacted by a family in Callendar, Iowa in reference to possible paranormal activity in and around the home. CAPT received the request and were very concerned as children were present in the home and being frightened by the activity.. The reported activity seemed to center around the children, ages 11 and 18, and the case was given top priority.

CAPT members met at out founders home at approx. 1800 hours to discuss the case. Claims of activity were as follows:

    1) Full body apparition in a machine shed

    2) Rotten egg smells on the second floor

    3) Figures in the dining room

    4) Trash can moving into the middle of the kitchen floor

    5) Bad feelings in the basement

    6) Voices

    7) Footsteps on the second floor

CAPT made arrangements to investigate immediately and were on site that night at 2200 hours at the owners request.

The site was located in the country and was a nice looking farm place. The home was documented to be built between 1890 and 1900, depending on which document you looked at, the deed was dated to 1890 so this is the date we are going with. CAPT met with the property owners and their children. The walk-through was conducted and the children pointed out most of the active places, as the activity seemed to center around them primarily. The activity was spread out and areas included the machine shed, an old horse barn, and the second floor area. Limited activity was reported in the dining room and kitchen area.

CAPT had a short meeting about the placement of equipment and introduced a teaching assistant from the University of Iowa who is working on his thesis paper and wished to include documentation about this case. Matthew is working in the non-fiction program at the University and during the investigation showed himself to not only be a good writer, but a good investigator as well. Equipment was placed and the investigation started.

CAPT had a limited number of investigators present so we decided to remain as one group instead of splitting as is CAPT's normal routine. The first places investigated were the yard area, machine shed and horse barn. No figure of a woman was seen in the machine shed and no feelings of dread were felt in the horse barn. A glance at the doorway into the machine shed at night with the motion lights on did throw a shadow in the doorway that resembled a human figure so this claim was debunked at the time of investigation. A feeling of being watched did come from the yard but the team attributed this to matrixing and labeled the feeling not paranormal.

The next place was the second floor area of the home. The team used the EMF and voice recorders in this area and no EMP spikes were detected. The team did have a possible experience in the area of the second floor, a feeling of uneasiness was reported, but was not strong enough to attribute it to paranormal reasons.
